4 Reasons Why You Need a Career Coach

We live fast-paced lives, often on auto-pilot. But there comes a time when we need to learn how to pause and reflect. I know this is easier said than done! We tend to overlook important signs that the universe is sending to us. So how do we recognise them? How can we listen? And what is the best course of action?

Career coaching can be the perfect tool. It can help you to step back and find answers by connecting to your inner wisdom. If you’re unsure whether now is the right moment to invest in coaching, try to understand what is triggering you to create change. Are there alarm bells going off that you’ve been ignoring?

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” — Steve Jobs

1- You lack a sense of purpose

Although you work hard every day, you feel that you’re not making an impact. You want to make a difference in the world, but you’re demotivated and fail to see the bigger picture. Perhaps the industry you work within or the company you work for don’t have values that align with your own. Are you working solely for the money? Are you feeling empty or numb?

2 – You feel stuck

Trapped within the comfort of a monthly salary and/or corporate benefits, the future does not excite you. You’re not satisfied with what you’ve got, but you also don’t believe you can get any better. Does the risk of losing what you have scare you? Is it preventing you from taking action? You want to break free but worrying about the economic and political context.

3 – You are bored

You go to work with zero passion. You used to be full of ideas and drive, but now find yourself uninspired and rarely challenged. Every day you’re going through the motions. You’re a robot. And what’s more, this is making you very tired.

4 – You feel depressed or frustrated

You have developed a negative attitude. Perhaps you’re unrecognisable from the person you once were in your career. It’s become the norm to undervalue your achievements and often, you fail to notice them at all. You might not like to admit it, but you’re jealous of other people’s success and this may cause you to gossip.

“There is no passion to be found in playing small — in settling for a life that is less than you are capable of living.” — Nelson Mandela

If any of this resonates with you – even if you’re experiencing at least one of these signs – it’s time to take action. And if you relate to everything, then hurry up!! It is your responsibility to make a change; not your company HR or corporate manager. Invest in yourself and your future. Career coaching really is the best gift you can give to yourself. It will expand your possibilities, level-up your mindset and help you define a career path in line with who you truly are. What’s more, it can lead you to find your purpose in life.
